HABITAT FOR HUMANITIES

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) homes are built almost entirely (90%!) by volunteers, both skilled and unskilled. Our skilled on-site construction team provides all tools, safety equipment, instruction and preparation for the site. Volunteer days on the construction sites are Tuesdays through Saturdays. We have a need for weekday volunteers.

You can sign up online to volunteer on the construction site

TREE PEOPLE ORGANIZATION

TreePeople inspires and supports the people of LA to come together to plant and care for trees, harvest the rain, and renew depleted landscapes. We unite with communities to grow a greener, shadier and more water-secure city at homes, neighborhoods, schools and in the local mountains. We work with volunteer leaders using our unique Citizen Forester model, and we influence government agencies for a healthy, thriving Los Angeles.

LOS ANGELES PUBLIC LIBRARIES

Teen Volunteers must be aged 14-19 and gain job, leadership and social skills by working with library staff to suggest purchases for the library’s teen materials collection, help plan teen programs and displays at the library, help straighten up the library, work with the branch’s Friends of the Library group or are Student Zone homework assistants.

Overall, each branch library location has different volunteer needs, so teens interested in completing community service hours should contact the Teen Services Librarian at their local branch to see if there are Teen Volunteer or Teen Council positions available. The Teen Services Librarian will walk the teen or tween through the specific volunteer process at their branch
