This week brings some great news for fans of Riot’s hit online multiplayer FPS Valorant. As Formation: Act 1 wraps up, the trailer for the next Act’s new agent was released.
Each agent in the game has unique abilities, either based around technology or granted by an element called Radianite. The new agent is Astra, a radiant from Ghana, who can affect space and time to lay traps on the battlefield and help her team to victory.
While Astra will not be available to players en-mass until she is unlocked through gameplay, some content creators were given early access and made showcases of her ability kit. Astra’s gameplay seems to be mostly centered around entering an astral form to place stars across the map that can later be turned into different kinds of traps. Developers have stated they believe this will be great for players that like making strategic plays.
Her ‘ultimate ability' lets her place a massive wall across the map that blocks players’ views and bullets. Some fans took to social media with concerns about how this will affect how the game runs. So far there has not been a response from Riot, but it’s likely that developers have taken it into consideration while working on her ability set and will make sure there is no outstanding issue.
