Mental Health

Childhood is an important period for the developing brain.  It is during these years children develop social and emotional habits that contribute to their mental  well-being.  With age appropriate mental functioning, children are able to adapt to changes, cope with challenges and thrive in everyday life.   Mental health is foundational to longterm personal productivity, academic performance, social interactions,  family relationships, and to ones overall contribution to both community and society.

At Lynwood Unified School District (LUSD), the mental health of all students is valued.   LUSD recognizes that promoting positive environments within the family and creating supportive environments at school and the wider community are vital to students everyday mental health.  To support student success, Lynwood Unified School District has developed the Health Collaborative, a multidiscilinarian team approach that provides essential resources and support services to students and families as needed.  An invaluable  aspect of this team approach includes the opportunity to receive  mental health services.

Mental health services at Lynwood Unified School District  include school-based counseling services for students and families.   The Lynwood Unified health collaborative team includes Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) on staff, as well as multiple community mental health partners that offer mental health services across our school district.  Mental health services consist of evidenced-based practices seeking to support students with developing and maintaining age-appropriate social, emotional and behavioral functioning.  Together we strive to improve the mental well-being of all students thereby supporting students in reaching their highest personal and academic aspirations.
