Create Your

FSA ID

You will use your FSA ID to electronically sign your FAFSA (the fastest and easiest way to complete your FAFSA).

While you are in school, you will complete a new FAFSA EVERY YEAR (Be sure to KEEP the information below in a safe place!).


To create aN FSA ID:

  1. Click Here

  2. Create your Username

You will be notified if the username you entered is taken. If so, keep trying!

  1. Create your password

Your desired password MUST HAVE:

  • numbers

  • uppercase letters

  • lowercase letters

  • be 8-30 characters long

  1. Click Continue

5. Enter your name, DOB, and Social Security Number

Your name and social security number MUST BE EXACTLY what is on your social security card. Not sure? CHECK!

Don’t have a social security number? Please contact your counselor to apply for TASFA (Texas Application for State Financial Aid).

6. Click Continue

7. Enter your email, cell phone number, mailing address, and language preference.

If possible, provide an email other than your @myhisd.net

8. Click Continue


9. Select 4 challenge/security questions and their responses.

10. Click Continue

11. Review all information and correct any mistakes.

12. Review terms/conditions at the bottom of the page. Check the box to certify to agree, and to verify that your information is correct.

13. Click Continue

14. If you chose to provide a cell phone number, you will receive a text message with a code. Enter the code in the box.

It can sometimes take a few minutes to receive the text. Ensure you have good reception.

15. Click Submit

16. You will also receive an email with a code. Enter it in the box.

17. Click Submit

Congratulations! You have successfully created your Fsa ID!

PLEASE ensure that you keep your username and password in a secure place.

If you haven't done so, create an account for one of your parents/guardians. (Follow the same steps above)

Your parent(s)/guardian(s) will be able to use their account to sign the FAFSA and obtain information directly from the IRS.

This will be a time saver since you will have to complete a FAFSA every year!
