We are so pleased to welcome you to the 2023-24 All-County Concert Season. Our
events range from All-County High School Chorus to All-County Middle and High School
Orchestra, Middle and High School Band, Middle School Chorus, Elementary Chorus,
and Jazz Band. Additionally, the district is proud to sponsor and facilitate the GCS Dance
Day, Middle School Jazz Festival, Arts Fair, Superintendent's Choice Art Awards,
Orchestra Fest, Music in the Middle, Elementary Symphony Concerts, Opera at the
Carolina, Artist-in Residence programs, the Arts Integration Academy, and the
Community Think Tank, and the Lyceum private and group lessons program. GCS Arts
has established itself as a national leader in K-12 public school arts education and our
brand is reaching heights not previously attained before.
GCS Arts prides itself on being an innovative arts education provider. Every
elementary school in GCS offers music and visual art. 92.1% of middle school students in
GCS are engaged in the arts in some form or fashion. Over 57,277 of the 69,765 students
in GCS are involved in the arts for a record 82.1% of involvement. With the astounding
involvement of our students in arts activities, we also pride ourselves on our
community, state, and national partnerships. To date, GCS Arts facilitates 68 full-time
governmental and non-governmental, public and private, for-profit and not-for-profit
partnerships affecting 150,000 students per year. These partnerships reflect
approximately $500,000 per year in in-kind services, funding, and time commitments.
Perhaps the most amazing statistic is the number of unique arts experiences, like the
one you are witnessing today, afforded to GCS students per year. GCS Arts is pleased to
offer approximately 25,988,000 unique arts experiences for both children and adults
per year.
At each of our All-County events, hundreds of students representing a myriad of
socioeconomic, racial, ethnic, cultural, and lifestyle background come together to
create. One would think bringing this many students together from such vastly different
backgrounds would be disastrous in terms of discipline and management. This could
not be further from the truth. Not only do these students come together to work hard
and create, they generally do it under the leadership of one adult while their teachers
offer peripheral supervision. We could not be prouder of our GCS Arts students. Please
sit back and enjoy the magnificence of our your students' vast creative and innovate
abilities.
Sincerely, The GCS Fine Arts Team
