GCS has partnered with local universities (NCAT, HPU, UNCG), recruited high school students and community professionals to expand tutoring efforts to students. When done well, with intentional training and with high quality instructional materials, tutoring can be more effective than more than 80% of other academic interventions. High dosage tutoring or tutoring that occurs with regular frequency 2-6 hours per week is more likely to positively impact student outcomes and mentorships with tutors can build social and emotional supports as well as we get students back on track.
