Who We Are

Ang Mo Kio Project is one of the 11 direct projects under MINDS MYG, a subsidiary voluntary wing of the Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS). We are a big family made up of the intellectually disabled (whom we call "our trainees"), their caregivers and our volunteers.

Our Beneficiaries

The AMK project serves a wide range of trainees, aged between 20 to 60 every Sunday through our regular programme and outings. All of them have their individual unique quirks, personalities, talents and weaknesses- and it's been a great journey of friendship and learning from one another with them.

Why We Volunteer

We are a fun-loving and passionate group of individuals who volunteer weekly to befriend, teach and train persons with intellectual disabilities (PWIDs) from various backgrounds, ethnicity and ages. Spending time with the trainees also helps to give their caregivers some time off.

Our project likes to celebrate festive and special occasions with our caregivers and trainees, such as Mothers' Day, CNY, Christmas, Teachers' Day, to name a few. During these sessions, there will be a scrumptious spread of food!

Our Programmes

Our project seeks to meet REAL needs, instead of imagined needs. All our programmes and planning are feedback-oriented, based on regular surveys from caregivers as well as regular reflection amongst the volunteers regarding what our individual trainees need.

These are the activities we normally engage in, some of which are temporarily suspended for COVID-related safety reasons:
