The Cave Creatures

Riley Billington

My favorite part of this artwork is all the creatures sticking out of the sculpture, my least favorite part is that I had to put clay around some of the creatures so it would stay on. The inspiration was from Linda Lopez, it was the same design but a different base of the sculpture. I would make the base a lot smoother because it’s off balance and has cracks  in it. I would also make the creatures smoother because some of them are cracking. All the pieces on my artwork stayed on which did surprise me, I didn’t think they would all stick. I used my hands to shape the creatures and flattened the base then rolled it to make the pipe shape with a holo inside, then I scraped the bottom of the creatures and the base to attach the creatures to the base. I used the elements of design and principles of art like pattern, space, texture, balance, rhythm, unity, shape, line, and form to make this project. It has a smooth texture and the creatures stand out.

Dragon Element Bowl

Ishaan Praitis

My favorite part of this artwork is the dragon elements on the bowl itself. I think it really gives my creation a mystical feel (and also makes it look much more clean). My least favorite part of the project is how fast I created the elements beneath the dragon, making it look kind of messy. My inspiration was the fact that this was a classroom assignment, but I do also really like dragons and how they are designed, and since I finished early I had time to do that. I would try to make my design of elements much cleaner and less messy, which would probably be enough to make it a stand alone piece. Some concepts that I thought of working with were dragon ideas and concepts.

Fake Berry Tarts

Vivian Wizikowski

I made two fake Berry tarts and the plate they’re on. I hand built the tarts and the plate, I used a mold for the plate. My big idea was to make them look realistic. My goal was to not make it look too perfect so it would appear more realistic. My overall thoughts are that it turned out like I planned and I reached my goals.

My Favorite Characters

Brigid Sapp

Mini Cooper Electric 2020

Eloise Cook

The car I chose is the Mini Cooper Electric 2020 SE hardtop the example I chose originally had a grey outside to it but I wanted the outside coat to be a turquoise. While making this car I used the subtractive method to make the details of the car look better and also in carving out the windows and front car lights. I also used the additive method in making the wheels, logo, and the side mirror. I chose this specific car because I know in the future when I get a car I won’t need such a big car so it is the perfect size car and because it is fuel efficient as well. I wanted viewers to see it as the car that I chose and I wanted to make it look as similar as possible so people could see that it is a mini from the logo in the front of the car.

odd pineapple

Logan Hansen

My favorite part is the design. My least favorite part is the bottom. Pineapples inspired this artwork. I would add a bottom. Smoothing out the surface.nothing surprised me. A lot of rolling.

The Creeper Hole (minecraft)

Vinicius Maiztegui

Creating the artwork was a mix of creativity, speed, and fun.  I kind of had to come up with strategies on the spot to quicken my pace.  I cut and scored and sanded my glass, in the end it was worth it. I grouted the tiles carefully and placed it down triumphantly.  The first step was a simple drawing which we would outline with sharpie.  Then we laid out a fiber glass mesh on top to trace the already existing artwork.  Then simply we would score, cut, and nip at glass pieces getting each one to fit.  The grout was easy, I rubbed it on the surface, got it stuck in the cracks, and finished the empty space before cleaning it off, a job well done.

The Cutest Duck

Chayan Delgado Zaragoza

My favorite part of the project was grouting. My least favorite part was looking for the picture. My inspiration came from my liking of ducks. If I were to remake the project I would change the colors, because it would be different.

Some concepts I learned were grouting and pixel art. Nothing surprised me about this work. How I started this project I searched up the picture. Second I found out the colors to match the duck. Next I glued the colors to the tile in the specific order, Lastly, I grouted the work to finish the project.

Three Fruit Bats Flying at Night

Aaron Danufsky

This artwork was made for my ceramics class. It is a drawing of three fruit bats flying on a starry night. I used sharpie on a porcelain form and got inspiration from online fruit bat images.

I was instructed to create contrast in the artwork, contrasting th dark sharpie with the light of the form. I was pleasantly surprised that I could successfully use stippling to create shading and depth in this artwork. This was an enjoyable assignment and I’m proud of what I made.

Pazookie

Brittany Ra

My art work is a pazookie. I created it by molding out my plate and then I rolled out clay to the perfect size and length for the cookie, then for my ice cream I made a pinch pot. But, I needed it to be realistic so I took a cup, and then I pushed it down the middle to make it look like someone scooped up the ice cream. My big idea was to make a food that I enjoy eating but I can’t eat a lot of. My goals were to make my pazookie realistic as possible. And I believe that my art work is great. I thought it was going to crack or brake in the kiln.

Ceramic Mask

Audrey Allen

ceviche

Siomara Petres

This bowl of ceviche is a fake food. Ceviche is a dish made from shrimp, tomato, onion, cilantro, and avocado. I used clay, underglaze, and glaze to make this trompe l'oeil food. The big idea was to make a realistic looking food. My goal was to try something new and different. I really liked how it turned out although it may not be too realistic I am very happy with it.
