About Ms. McNamara

Hi Tigers! I am very excited to become a part of this wonderful community as your Physical Education and Health teacher.

I have a degree in Kinesiology and Physical Education from Northern Illinois University. After completing my credential program there, I was lucky enough to move to San Diego where I took a detour from teaching and spent time managing wellness programs in the corporate world. For the past eight years, I worked as a Physical Education teacher at a private K-8 school in San Diego. While I thoroughly enjoyed working with children of all ages there, I always looked forward to working with my middle school classes the most! I think that the middle school years are a very special time and I feel lucky to get to spend that time with all of you.

As a teacher, I have two main goals: To inspire my students to live healthier lives, and to compliment the academic curriculum by getting everyone moving. When you exercise, you feel good and your brain is primed to learn!

Outside of school, I am a wife and mom to two daughters. Our family has two dogs named Gidget and Sassy. In my free time, I enjoy weekend camping trips, spending time at the beach, cooking, and taking care of my large collection of house plants. My favorite ways to exercise are yoga, swimming, running, cycling, and scootering around with my kids.
