About me

Hello and welcome to 7th Grade Science and Geographic Information Systems! I am so excited to be part of the College Preparatory Middle School team. My goal is to inspire students to become scientists and engineers.

This is my third year teaching 7th grade science at CPMS. Prior to coming to CPMS I taught biology at San Diego High School, Southwestern College and the University of Michigan. Before becoming a teacher, I worked in the agricultural and conservation fields for more than 15 years.

I received my bachelor's degree in Agriculture with a major in pest management from Universidad Autonoma Chapingo (Mexico). I earned a Master of Science in Resource Ecology and Management and a Graduate Certificate in GIS from the University of Michigan; a Master of Business and Administration from the University of California San Diego; and a Master of Education from the University of Phoenix.

I was born in Mexico. Work, school and family have taken me to Washington, Idaho, Michigan and for the last 15 years to San Diego.

I love being outdoors and hiking in the national parks, although I am not a big fan of camping. My favorite type of exercise is running. I love reading and going to bookstores. I am a dog person. I love all kinds of dogs, but I have a predilection for German shepherds. I have two daughters, a 6th grader and a 9th grader, and a nephew who is like my son since he has lived with us since he was 12. My wife is a midwife.

I am looking forward to getting to know my students and their families!
