The Impact of Global Warming on Wildlife
Climate change is continuously producing threats to wildlife. The rising temperatures are causing many species to have less food, less successful reproduction, and it is messing with the environment for native wildlife. The warmer climate can cause animals to migrate to warmer or colder lands, becoming invasive species and causing them to bother other animals' habits. Some animals may do better in the warmer weather overpowering the other animals, expanding their territory and food sources. Since these animals don’t belong in these new environments, they may not do as well. They lose their natural advantages and that lets more invasive species into the changing environment.
Climate change can contribute to more extreme weather. This can be very damaging to wildlife because it can destroy important ecosystems and habitats. Climate change can also cause new diseases to be introduced and be able to survive in the environment. It can cause these threats to spread from animals to humans or humans to animals. It can affect many different types of wildlife and as the ecosystems change different wildlife will interact with each other and spread the different viruses and more disease outbreaks can happen.
Now, there are many ways we as people can stand up to climate change and make these problems heard from people all over. If we never do anything about these issues then many of the world's greatest species can end up going extinct. Animals, as well as even us humans, depend on a livable climate but if this keeps on happening the Earth won’t be suitable for life anymore. To stand up to climate change, you can be a voice for wildlife and find more information on how to protect wildlife and native species from these threats.
You can support others or organizations that encourage support towards wildlife and the environment such as the World Wildlife Fund (https://www.worldwildlife.org/). Climate change is causing an alarming increase of the risk of extinction but you can always donate to the WWF to help make a difference.
