School always includes various emotions on the first day. Some nervous, some giddy over the moon. Every new seventh grade student is from elementary schools all over Brea, experiencing a new environment, just like you. By reading this article, you get to read the feelings of your very own Bobcat students.
To figure out how the inside of the classroom feels about their first seventh grade experience, I surveyed a multitude of students from different classes. To begin, I asked how they felt on the first day with a singular word. What comes to mind when you hear the words “first day of school”, you might feel excited, neutral, nervous, and so on. According to the survey, most students experience being anxious and on edge. However, tied with being nervous, students also felt neutral.
Moving on to the next question, I queried the students how long it took for them to get used to moving classes. When I recorded the answers, I was quite surprised. 13 out of 23 said they got used to it on the first day. Another common answer was 2-3 days, which to me personally, was the same time it took for me. A further inquiry on the survey was if the students liked their classes. The majority answered yes, being 19 out of 23.
Lastly, I inquired if the students liked elementary or junior high better. I ended up with the answer that most enjoyed junior high rather than elementary. In my opinion, I too enjoy junior high rather than primary school. In summary, this has been the internal view of your fellow bobcats and I hope this helped you get over your first day jitters.
