Christmas Gift Ideas
The Christmas Holiday is near, but one question is pondered by many: “What should I get someone for Christmas?” There are so many things to choose from to give as presents, so here’s a list of some presents that would be great to give:
For young children
Barbie Dolls: Barbie dolls are great presents for children who love to pretend and make their own stories! Barbie dolls allow kids to make their own stories without any restraints on their imagination. They can make the dolls’ personalities and stories. Each doll costs around $12-$17. There are also play sets that are sold separately, like cars that are about two and seven dollars, and if you have a (very) large budget, you can gift a Barbie Dreamhouse set, which costs around $100-200, which unlocks more stories that children are free to imagine!
Hot Wheels: Hot Wheels are an amazing present for a kid who loves cars and also make-believe! Hot Wheels is a company that makes scale model cars. Each car is about $1-$1.50. There are so many different cars out there, and even tracks to race them! The sets usually cost $25 for smaller sets to $200 for larger ones.
Play-Doh: Play-Doh is a great gift for a child to express themselves creatively! It’s a non-toxic, reusable, and affordable wheat-based modeling compound that offers endless possibilities for forming and shaping it. It’s about 50 cents to $1, making it an inexpensive gift for all! If you have a bigger budget, there are even some sets that include multiple cups of Play-Doh and several molds.
Princess Dolls: Princess Dolls are great gifts for children who want to bring fairy tales and fantasies to life! There are many princesses from well-loved movies and animated films. You can style their hair and give them beautiful, sparkling gowns and dresses. You can even give them accessories like tiaras and shoes. Kids can immerse themselves in the princess fantasy!
Bracelet Making Kit: A bracelet-making kit is another special present for kids to craft and express their inner selves! Bracelets can say whatever someone wants to get out to the world. Unlike pre-made jewelry, bracelet kits offer a hands-on experience for kids who like to customize what they wear. They usually cost $5 to over $40.
Advent calendar: For kids who can’t wait for Christmas and those who count down the days! There are many different varieties of these calendars, from LEGO calendars to chocolate! Advent calendars are a box with 24-25 different containers. You can open one container each day in December up until Christmas. Each container is usually numbered, so the container corresponding to the day should be opened.
Tonies: Tonies are gifts that encourage a child’s imagination and independent play! Tonies are a screen-free audio experience. A TonieBox is a device that plays music or tells stories when a Tonie is put on it. TonieBoxes are pretty expensive, having an average cost of $100. Tonies are collectible figures that, when they are put on the TonieBox, the box plays music or tells a story. Each Tonie is around $20.
Play Kitchens: A gift that lets kids imagine their fantasies of working as a cook and baker! Play kitchens are pretend kid-size kitchens that let toddlers cook and bake. Some sets include things like eggs, bacon, and orange juice for pretend breakfast play. There are so many of these that come with different foods, ingredients, and meals that kids can enjoy! There are also some playsets made by fast-food restaurants that let kids live out their minimum wage worker dreams! Tabletop playsets usually cost about $50, and larger, somewhat actual-sized ones cost about $300 for wooden premium sets, so it’s definitely for bigger budgets.
“Bluey” Playsets: “Bluey” Playsets are great for kids who love “Bluey” and want to make their own “Bluey” episodes! These playsets can include various characters, scenes, and items from the show! Some examples of these sets include her house and a playground from the show! These playsets can’t be mistaken for any other show since it has a unique art style that is perfectly captured in these “Bluey” sets. They usually cost about $30-$70, but larger sets can be around $200.
For Teens
Jellycats: Jellycats are for people who like to have cuddly companions around! Jellycats are plushies that are multiple things, from animals to food. There’s a Jellycat for anyone and everyone. But these stuffed animals are pretty expensive, with the medium ones being $30-$35. There are also smaller keychains, costing around $15-$30. And if you want to go all out, there are bigger ones usually costing over $100. Each Jellycat has its own unique design, colors, and type of animal.
Video Games: Video games are for people who like to play games and have fun! Some video games only work with certain consoles, so make sure that you’re buying one for one that they have. Physical copies of games usually cost $60-$80, but there are also some digital ones that are free or $10-$40. These games have a wide variety of genres, so there's something for everyone.
Headphones: Headphones are for people who like to listen to music and have privacy. Headphones allow their user to block out noisy and irritating environments and to immerse themselves in their favorite music. There are multiple types of headphones, from AirPods that are compact for someone’s convenience, to headphones that stay secure on your head. AirPods cost about $100-$200, but some normal headphones are typically $60-$120.
Lego Sets: Lego sets are for people with patience who like to build things. Lego sets come with their “bricks” that connect with each other. These bricks can make up various things, from scenes from shows and movies to life-size “retro” objects. It’s an opportunity for mindful relaxation. Lego also offers the bricks by themselves to unleash full creativity, usually costing $40 for 500 pieces.
Polaroid Camera: A Polaroid camera is a great gift for people who want to save their favorite moments! Unlike phones, photos don’t get lost in the cloud. Polaroid cameras print out photos as soon as they take them. It’s a very easy camera to use, and there’s a delightful anticipation while waiting for the photo to develop. The camera usually costs about $80-$120, and the replaceable film is usually $10-$20.
Smart watch: A smart watch is a great gift to give your kid or friend. Even though the lowest cost for a watch is $70, the cost is worth it. The most popular smart watch is the Apple Smart Watch, which basically works as a phone, being able to text and play games on it.
Portable projector: A portable projector is an amazing present for people who want to play games and binge-watch movies and shows wherever they go! A portable projector can be connected to phones, game consoles, and more. When it’s connected, it projects a high-quality makeshift screen. Since it’s wireless, it only needs to be recharged every now and then. They vary in size and rotation for convenience. The projectors usually cost $100-$700, which is too much for people who have a large budget.
Custom Neon Signs: Custom Neon Signs are for people who want to customize their room to match their personalities! Custom neon signs can say whatever you want to say upon order. Many companies offer these customs. They are a personal, memorable way to light up a room with any color. You can put on a name, a quote, and reflect personality, interests– the possibilities are literally endless! They are pretty expensive, though, usually ranging from $100-$200.
Gift cards: Gift Cards for people who like to spend money on stores and restaurants! Gift cards come in a variety of types and money, sold by companies. You can find gift cards from many different places at retail stores like Target and Walmart. These gift cards can be gifted to people that you don’t know exactly what they like, so they can use them at the stores and choose what they want on their own. There are so many different prices, so there’s bound to be one that fits your budget best!
Mini fridge: A mini fridge is for people who like to keep snacks and drinks in their own room! Mini fridges are a way to store food and drinks in your own room for convenience. These mini fridges keep whatever is contained in them cool for whenever you crave them. This gift is also an expensive one, usually costing from $80 to over $200.
Burrito blanket: A burrito blanket is a nice and cozy gift to stay warm during the winter season! Burrito blankets are circular blankets that have a tortilla design printed on them. You can wrap yourself in it, looking like a human burrito! It’s a fun and simple gift that usually costs around $15-$40.
Owala Water Bottles: Owalas are a way to stay hydrated while also staying trendy! Owalas are water bottles that have been trending for a bit on social media like TikTok, Instagram, etc. These water bottles range from $25-$40, depending on the size.
For adults
Money: Money is something that most adults want! Money is currency and can be used to buy so many things. Enough of it can buy anything on this list, and adults can choose to spend it on needs and wants or save it for later! You can give any amount of money, even a penny, as a joke gift!
Espresso machine: An espresso machine is a great gift for people who like coffee and want to make it efficiently! It can replace cafe drinks and make all types of coffee and servings. It can also be used to discover a new hobby: “mastering” the latte! Although the initial price can be high, around $100 for basic models to over $1000 for complex models, it actually saves money per cup instead of buying it from a cafe.
Air Fryer: An air fryer is for people who think microwaves are an inefficient way of reheating things, and ovens take too long to heat things. Air fryers are a great, alternative way to heat foods, only using heated air to do so. It also promotes healthier cooking and saves time and energy. It can make quick meals quickly. Another benefit of air fryers is that they always shut down after the time you set them to. They usually cost around $40 for smaller and basic models to over $400 for larger and more complex models with more settings.
Custom photo puzzle: A photo puzzle is a great gift for treasuring favorite moments and “building” them as well! Custom photo puzzles can be ordered and custom-made to your liking. From photos of family and family events to beautiful landscapes, there’s no limit to what you can put on them! These custom jigsaw puzzles typically cost $18-$40.
Throw blanket: A Throw blanket is a versatile and cozy gift! It’s a warm, soft blanket that can provide comfort for anything! You can use it to watch a movie, sit on the couch to read a good book, and even to play games with family and friends! These throw blankets have multiple designs, colors, and patterns to match four styles and aesthetics! They are $10 for basic fleece to over $200 for more luxurious types.
Sodastream: Sodastreams are for people who want quick sodas without having to go out and buy more! Sodastreams are carbonation machines that carbonate water with the push of a button or the pull of a lever. There are multiple syrups for flavors, including many popular soda companies. They also come in zero types, so you can also choose a flavor without sugar. They usually cost about $60 for basic models to $180 for more complex models. A replacement CO2 canister is usually $15-$17, and individual 15-oz bottles cost about $6-$8.
Gift Baskets: Gift baskets are for pretty much anyone! Gift baskets are custom-made baskets that can be gifted to people with all kinds of snacks and goodies in them! They can include anything from a cheese sampler with 50 types of cheese to a $15 Apple Gift Card; there are so many things that you can put in them! To make one, all you need is any type of basket sized for the quantity and size of the items included, then include items of any kind (even possibly some from this list) that the person you’re making the basket for enjoys! The price range will vary depending on the items, but a good gift basket should cost over $20.
