Affordable places to go to during winter break
Winter break is the best time to relax, spend some time with friends, and stay at home. But sometimes that can get a bit repetitive, or maybe your friends are all traveling and you feel left out. So here are some fun, exciting, and affordable places to visit in Cali.
Joshua Tree National Park
If you are more of a nature/hiking person, then this section is for you. Joshua Tree is an amazing state park where there are so many different hiking trails that you could go on during the day. At night, you could sit by the fire with a cup of hot cocoa while staring at the sky that's filled with so many different twinkling stars. It's an amazing camping spot. It is also really unique compared to most of the light-polluted areas that most of us never wander out of. Another amazing thing about Joshua Tree is it is only two hours away from Brea!
Big Bear Lake
If you are going for more of a cozy winter vibe, then this is definitely the place for you. There are so many different things that you can do. You can go sledding, skiing, or maybe even just have fun in the snow. There are so many different cabins that you can rent out. Even if it's just for a night, the memories that you make will definitely last you a lifetime. Another pro is that the trip is only about an hour from here, but remember to leave a bit early on the weekend since the mountain road can get really busy.
San Diego
San Diego has many different affordable places that you can visit; you could spend days there and never get bored. The first place that you can visit is the classic Balboa Park. Balboa Park has multiple rose gardens, museums, and art galleries. Another pro is that most museums and art galleries have free admission. So you can have so much fun for the cost of zero dollars. You could also just walk by the coastline, since there are many different pop-up shops there, or you could also go on a one-hour ferry ride around the ocean. If you want more of a hike around the beach, then you should definitely check out the Guy Fleming Trail, which is about 0.7 miles. It's a pretty flat and easy hike that leads to two stunning ocean views. San Diego is only about two hours, so if you have time this winter break, you should definitely check it out.
Conclusion
In conclusion, you don't have to spend your whole winter break at home. If you're looking for some fun in the snow you could go to Big bear lake, or maybe you want that beachy vibe, then you should definitely visit San Diego. All in all, traveling somewhere doesn't have to be expensive, you just have to find the right places to go.
