For many of you who have watched the Video Music Awards (VMA), you may know Ozzy Osbourne, the lead singer of Black Sabbath. Ozzy recently passed away at the age of 76 from cardiac arrest and, unfortunately, also suffered from coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease. He was known for being one of the most prominent figures of British heavy metal. One of his most popular songs is “Crazy Train”. Ozzy’s song “Changes” has gained popularity from a new cover version sung by another British artist who calls himself “YUNGBLUD”.
YUNGBLUD first sang the cover for “Changes” at the “Back To The Beginning” festival on July 5th, 2025. YUNGBLUD was chosen to sing Ozzy’s song because of their friendship with each other, which developed when YUNGBLUD was filming his music video for his song “The Funeral”. Initially, he wanted Ozzy’s daughter, Kelly Osbourne, to star in his music video, but she wasn’t available. Instead, she connected YUNGBLUD with her parents, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. Eventually, he and YUNGBLUD became friends soon after the music video.
More on YUNGBLUD, his real name is Dominic Richard Harrison, and he grew up in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England. Harrison began his career by acting in a few episodes of the Disney show “The Lodge”. After he realized acting wasn’t the career for him, he caught an interest in music from his uncle, who owned a guitar shop. He chose a musical career since he felt that it was a way to express his opinions and feelings into something a person can listen to. His inspiration came from bands such as The Clash and the Arctic Monkeys. Later, he released his first single, “King Charles,” in April of 2017.
Dominic used his real name for some time, but realized his name was a bit too polite for his rebellious sort of music. The creation of his stage name came from his manager, who often called him “Young blood” since he was the youngest person on the roster, later adopting the stage name “YUNGBLUD”. He quickly rose to prominence as a leader in the British pop-ish alternative punk genre, known for his opinionated lyrics and rebellious spirit in his songs. He first debuted with an EP titled “YUNGBLUD” and with that, released his first album, “21st Century Liability,” which was issued in 2018, followed later by further successful singles and albums.
YUNGBLUD is now gaining even more popularity because of his relationship with Ozzy Osbourne and the tribute performances YUNGBLUD has done for him. The famous artist has met and collaborated with many known artists, including Halsey, Travis Barker, Machine Gun Kelly, Dan Reynolds from Imagine Dragons, Sombr, and even Will Smith’s daughter, Willow. Mick Jagger, lead singer of The Rolling Stones, has even said he sees YUNGBLUD as the new rock icon. YUNGBLUD has also met lead singer Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters before, YUNGBLUD being open about how starstruck he was when meeting Dave. Later, Dave Grohl introduced YUNGBLUD at events, such as the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2020.
YUNGBLUD still has a long way to go in his amazing musical career, but with all the popularity gained, he’s sure to get somewhere. YUNGBLUD is claimed by many to be the future of rock, which is shown by his success. He is an idol and star to many, and is sure to be a known artist in the future.
