Valentine's Day is a great way to show the people you love how much you care about them! Even though we celebrate love, the history behind it is rather sad and dark. It is the death date of St. Valentine. He was killed at the command of Roman Emperor Claudius for not renouncing his faith in God. Other than the death of St. Valentine, it used to be the Roman holiday Lupercalia, and since it was a holiday to celebrate fertility and love, it has evolved into a day to celebrate love and care between partners. We often show our love and affection to our loved ones by getting them gifts, such as chocolates and flowers, specifically red roses and carnations, since they mean love. Partners usually go out to dinner or on a date to celebrate the love-filled day. Because it is February, it is considered the month of love.
