The VMAs

On September 7, one of the most iconic award shows took place. The MTV Video Music Awards, hosted by LL Cool J, aired at 8:00 pm EST. Top artists such as Lady Gaga, Tate McRae, Sabrina Carpenter, and Conan Gray took the stage to perform. Here is everything you need to know, no details spared.

Beginning in 1984, the VMAs have become one of the most well-known and iconic award shows in pop culture. Known for its dazzling performances, funky fashion, and various honorary awards, this award show is often attended by all kinds of artists. In preparation, music stars spend endless hours conducting performances, perfecting their makeup, and designing outfits that will both make a statement and leave the audience breathless. 

The 2025 VMAs were attended by a long list of celebrities, including Ariana Grande, Ice Spice, Sombr, Alex Warren, and of course, Lady Gaga. Nominated for twelve awards, Gaga’s performance was one of the most anticipated of the night. As predicted, she absolutely crushed it. With a dramatic theatrical performance and stunning vocals, she commanded the stage as if it were her own. The audience went wild as she screamed the lyrics to her hit song, Abracadabra, and her new single, The Dead Dance. She took home 4 awards, one of them being Artist of the Year. 

Ariana Grande also won big this year. Arriving in a stylish polka-dot gown and her signature high ponytail, she showed up ready to dominate. Her single, brighter days ahead, won two of the biggest VMA awards: Best Pop and Video of the Year. 

“Oh my gosh, this is so kind. Thank you so, so much,” Ariana Grande said tearfully in her thank-you speech. 

Sabriana Carpenter was also spotted at this year’s award show. She arrived in a custom red Valentino dress and a fluffy blue scarf. But it was her stunning after-party look that truly stole the show. Her vintage Bob Mackie dress was the perfect outfit to celebrate her jaw-dropping performance of her new song, Tears, and her award for Best Pop Artist.

Obviously, these weren’t the only fashion icons at the show.

Conan Gray delivered one of the night's most memorable fashion ensembles. Designed by Erik Charlotte, his outfit was both dramatic and magical. He wore a navy corseted top with puffed sleeves and a sailor-style collar. The skirt was multi-layered with tiers of ruffled navy and white lace. To complete the look, he paired the outfit with white-platform boots and a sailor hat. 

It was absolutely stunning.

Tate McRae showed up full glam as well. She wore a flowy white dress and matching heels as the cherry on top. Ice Spice was photographed in vintage Ralph Lauren and a funky pink wig. KATSEYE in Dolce and Gabbana. Tyla in Chanel. Doja Cat in Balmain. 

The fashion this year did not disappoint.
