Do you like Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches? What about Reeses’ Peanut Butter Cups? If so, then you’d fit right in to National Peanut Butter Lover’s Day! National Peanut Butter Lover’s Day is celebrated on March 1st by Americans all over the United States. It’s a holiday to celebrate—well—peanut butter, and all of the different recipes that use peanut butter and peanuts in them. Peanut butter was first patented in 1895 by John Harvey Kellog, who sold it at carnivals as a fun snack. Just a decade later, Beech-Nut became the first national brand to sell peanut butter worldwide. From there, peanut butter quickly became a favorite all across the United States. In fact, an estimated 700 million pounds of peanut butter are consumed each year. And there’s good reason for that. Peanut butter is very high in protein, healthy fats, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. The fiber content especially can play a large role in regulating blood sugar levels and aiding in digestion. Peanut butter can even help improve your brain health, due to its large vitamin content. Not only that, but peanut butter is usually extremely affordable for people looking for a cheap yet healthy snack. Most jars of peanut butter are only about three dollars. Even so, an estimated 800 million dollars is used for buying peanut butter in the United States alone. Overall, peanut butter is a healthy and delicious option for anyone looking for a quick snack.
