Halloween is known for being a day to dress up, have fun, carve pumpkins, go trick-or-treating, and get your adrenaline pumping. Many people around the world love this special holiday, but not many know how October 31 came to be Halloween.
One theory suggests that the holiday was influenced by the Celtic harvest festivals, which were days for gatherings and games. Another says that it originated from the day of All Hallows’ Eve, which is the day before All Hallows’ Day, which is to honor all the saints of the church. Although the actual origins of Halloween aren’t very well-known, it won’t stop anyone from having a good time.
There are many ways to celebrate and spend Halloween. For starters, there’s the beloved trick-or-treating, going door to door saying, “Trick-or-treat!” and getting candy with no cost from people. Some people make their houses into Haunted Houses, where people walk around inside a house getting spooked and scared to the point where they shriek. Additionally, you can either host or attend a Halloween party where people gather for spooky activities, Halloween-themed treats, and socializing, all while having a good time. Pumpkin carving is also an activity loved by many (if you don’t mind getting your hands dirty), where you could carve whatever face you desire onto a pumpkin.
Some theme parks even change up the park’s decorations to ghostly ones. For example, Knott’s Berry Farm changes to Knott’s Scary Farm from September 18 to November 1. They’ve been keeping up this tradition for more than 50 years. It’s a thrilling event to get frightened. There’s also a more kid-friendly option at Disney’s theme parks, where the decorations are still eerie, but the scare factor is tuned down for Disney’s kid-friendly theme. They even have their own trick-or-treating as you go through their park.
No matter what you do on Halloween, you’re mostly sure to have a great and productive time. Halloween’s a time to hang out with friends and get your adrenaline running. Remember to stay safe and have a Happy Halloween!
