Suzanne Collins is returning to the dystopian world of Panem with a new novel/prequel, Sunrise on the Reaping. This book will discuss Haymitch, who was Katniss and Peeta’s mentor during the 74th Hunger Games. Haymitch competed in the 50th hunger games, also known as the second Quarter Quell, which was held every 25 years. In the past books, we have only gotten a small glimpse of the things Haymitch had to endure in his games. The only thing we know about his games is the fact that he had to kill a District One tribute using the arena’s force field. We also know that President Snow killed his mother, brother, and girlfriend out of retaliation because the use of the force field made the Capitol look foolish. This story will hopefully give us a better understanding of why Haymitch turns to alcohol to stay sane.
