Every year, New Tech’s National Honor Society students work hard selling spirit chain links before school, during lunches, and after school. However, these red, white, and purple slips of paper mean much more than school spirit. All proceeds of the 25 cent spirit chain sales go to United Way, a nonprofit organization which helps communities in Central Texas. The mission of United Way is to “improve lives by mobilizing community partnerships and resources to advance the common good.” The New Tech campus raised almost $300 for the organization. At the October 13th Belton Tigers football game, students from each Tiger campus were invited to link their spirit chains together and run them across the football field to show the hard work that each campus had put into this fundraiser. The New Tech senior class is being celebrated specifically for raising the most money out of all the grade levels on our campus by getting an ice cream party!
