New Tech theater just completed the first two showings of their fall show, Nightfall With Edgar Allen Poe, on Friday, October 20th and Saturday, October 21st. The last showing will be today, Friday, October 27th, during school for all New Tech students to see.
Nightfall with Edgar Allen Poe is about the famous poet, short story writer, and literary critic who falls into madness throughout his stories over the death of his wife. Nightfall was written by Eric Coble, a famous playwright who has written many shows before including Vote?, The Velocity of Autumn, Fairfield, and more.
Nightfall is about the famous Edgar Allen Poe who was a wild child, and he got around: Boston, Baltimore, Richmond, and the Bronx. Poe is known for his poetry and short stories with horror and suspense themes. Poe is a giant in American Romanticist literature. He even contributed to the science fiction genre and is credited with creating the detective fiction subgenre.
The stories used in Nightfall are The Raven, The Fall of The House Of Usher, Pit and the Pendulum, and Tell-Tale Heart. The Raven is about a man who is disturbed one night by a raven who taunts him about his dead wife, Lenore. The Fall Of The House Of Usher is about how the narrator comforts his friend Rodrick while he is grieving the loss of his sister, but his sister eventually comes back to haunt and kill Rodrick. The Pit And The Pendulum is about a person who is on death row and the torment they go through while they are in a dungeon. The Tell-Tale Heart is about how the narrator kills an old man because of his weird eye, then he eventually admits to his crime.Â
The New Tech theater teacher and director of the Fall Show, Mr. Stephan Scallorn, sat down for an interview about challenging aspects of the show.
