This site displays work by students who chose to participate in this optional web site representing the UI/UX Design course offered Spring 2021 at Cañada College, one of the community colleges in the San Mateo Community College District in Redwood City, California.
The course provided students with an introduction to User Experience Design and covered the concepts, practices, processes, and tools used in designing and evaluating the user experience of primarily digital products and services.
Students learned how to evaluate usability, how usability enables productivity, and how to use industry standard tools and practices to create the proposals, plans, and prototypes expected of professional User Experience Designers and Usability Engineers. Students also produced competitive intelligence studies and feasibility analyses tailored to meet the critical needs of 21st century businesses where usability has been known to dramatically affect survival and profitability.
For their final projects, students audited a range of products and services out of which several were selected for Case Studies that were especially relevant and critical today including the federal government's Vaccination Finder process (re vaccination against COVID19), the financial aid application process, filling out and submitting of an I9 form (essential to working in the USA), and others. Students produced case studies which included both a detailed and current work plan, budget, feasibility analysis, design proposal(s), high and low fidelity working prototypes, and practiced responding in real time to the dynamic changes typical of a real time development environment.
