Electricity Program
What is construction electricity?
The Construction Electricity program focuses on the residential and light commercial wiring fields. Basic electrical skills covered include circuit planning, sizing electrical panels, blueprinting, and rough wiring and finishing work. Students will utilize the skills learned in class in the building of the CTC House project. Students may earn credit of up to two years of the four years required to complete the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Apprenticeship Training Program. ABC is a fully accredited course of study established by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER)

Creating a career for the Future
In the USA employment of electricians is projected to grow 10 percent from 2018 to 2028. Demand for electricians is increasing due to many factors. The need for electricians will continue as long as people need electricity, which is a field that will never go away since we use electricity so much every single day. This combined with the older generation retiring and creates new opportunities for the next generation to find careers in electricity. Overall, the need for new workers is a great reason to pick construction electricity as a career.

Meet The Teacher
Mr. James R Rollins Sr.
Mr. Rollins has a tremendous background in electrical repair and has had over 45 years in the electrical business, whether he was working under another company or running his own business. Mr. Rollins has a great deal of experience in this field. His interest in electronics & electricity began right here in Frederick County. He attended Linganore High School and graduated one year early and began his career.
Mr. Rollins experience:
Brandenburg Electric from 1977-1986.
1981 he finish ABC apprenticeship (with 2nd highest score)
Dyna Electric for 1-1/2 years with IBEW Local 26 ( Washington, DC)
Romal Electric for 1-1/2 yrs with IBEW Local 24 ( Baltimore, MD)
Brandenburg Electric (1989-1997)
1995-1997 operated Rollins Electrical Contractors, INC
1997-present Construction Electricity Instructor for Frederick County Career & Tech Center
1997 founded Rollins Repair.
