J.U.S.T.I.C.E. Committee

Chaired by J.U.S.T.I.C.E. Chair Grace Lindsey

Justice is a cornerstone value of a Jesuit education. Justice is the toolset we use in order propagate compassion and empathy in others, and to educate ourselves about how to be the best people we can be. To live justly is to be an advocate, to be an activist, and to be a learner. As people with and for others, we must be vigilant in the ways we contribute to an unjust society, and unteach ourselves and those around us what our society's ideology has taught us. Justice is both a philosophical practice, and a way of living day-to-day.

The committee works as a team to spread awareness about injustices, both the micro- and macro level, and to spearhead campus initiatives which address those injustices. Whether that is pursuing Fair Trade certification and holding our administration accountable, or holding Enlight Night which raise awareness and engagement on numerous topics - in the past, those topics have been regarding racial justice, immigrant and refugee status, and LGBTQ+ + Latinx community. The committee works together with clubs and faculty on campus to educate our peers regarding what it means to live justly, and how that can be carried out at both the individual and organization level.
