What is Science Alliance?
Recognized by both the Prudential Spirit of the Community Award and the US President's Volunteer Service Award, Science Alliance is an after-school enrichment program, serving over 200 students from 22 elementary schools in the San Ramon Valley. In the current technological era, it has become increasingly important that we build a strong science foundation in the youth in order to shape the thinkers, creators, and innovators of tomorrow. Founded with a mission to introduce elementary school students to investigative science and methodical inquiry, Science Alliance pairs up motivated elementary school students with honors high school mentors, who teach the scientific process while guiding the students through original science fair projects.

How It Works
Both the kids and mentors commit to this yearlong program that helps prepare the kids for middle school lab science and gives the mentors the opportunity to act as positive role models for younger students. Science Alliance holds events once a month for the mentors and kids to meet and discuss the ongoing process of their respective experiments. Each get-together has a fun theme, whether it’s the December Holiday Cookie Exchange or the March Ice Cream Social. The big finale is the April Science Extravaganza which includes the actual science fair, exciting activity stations, special presentations, and the highly anticipated awards ceremony (with past prizes including Six Flags tickets, movie theater passes, and Cold Stone gift certificates).
