Wildlife supported: deers, rabbits, orioles, thrushes, and many other species of birds
Landscape status: Found in southern Canada, majority of the east coast, and some eastern prairie states
Ideal planting conditions: Well-lit and well drained areas, common milkweed requires a lot of sun and a lot of space
Historic uses: All kinds of milkweed were used by Native Americans for medicinal purposes (reducing swelling, fevers, coughs, etc.), as well as in food.
