In-Season Training Expectations
ALL KIDS. ALL COACHES. ALL IN!
In-season training is one of the most vital components of a successful and unified strength program. Athletes who neglect in-season training may lose up to three months of consistent development each year. Over a four-year high school career, that equates to an entire year of missed training—a gap that significantly impacts long-term athletic growth and performance.
Key Considerations for In-Season Training
Holistic Development: Strength training isn’t just for the current sport—it builds a foundation for all sports an athlete participates in.
Controlled Adaptation: Training volumes and intensities are adjusted to account for overall stress loads, ensuring athletes continue to improve without overtraining.
Strategic Approach: Like using a gas pedal, we know when to push and when to ease up based on competition schedules and recovery needs.
Consistent Challenge: Athletes are expected to show up and perform with quality and consistency rather than just focusing on doing more.

Game Day Training
Why We Train on Competition Days
Limited Training Windows: Multi-sport athletes have fewer opportunities for year-round training. Competition-day lifts help maintain strength & prevent setbacks.
Neuromuscular Activation: Resistance training primes the nervous system, improving muscle fiber recruitment for high-intensity competition.
Injury Prevention & Performance: Strength training on game days helps maintain flexibility, mobility, and functional range of motion, reducing injury risk.
Game Day Training Considerations
Reduced Volume: Training sessions are shortened on game days to avoid excessive fatigue.
Time of Day Matters: Morning vs. afternoon training will be adjusted based on competition schedules.
In-Season Adjustments: Training loads are modified to match team and individual needs.
