Subject: Ceasefire now - debate 8th November
Dear [NAME OF YOUR MEMBERS OF SENEDD]

This Wednesday 8th November, you will be aware that there is a Plaid Cymru debate taking place entitled “Conflict in Israel and Gaza”.

I am writing to you, as your constituent, to firstly, attend and participate in the debate and to secondly, vote in favour of the original motion. This matter is of great importance to me and I urge you to do the right thing.

On 6th November, the heads of several major United Nations bodies made a united call for a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza as Israeli strikes intensify nearly one month into the conflict. The 18 signatories include Volker Turk, the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, the head of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, and U.N. aid chief Martin Griffiths.

"An entire population is besieged and under attack, denied access to the essentials for survival, bombed in their homes, shelters, hospitals and places of worship. This is unacceptable," they said in a joint statement.

The original motion is one that upholds basic international principles as well as basic human morality. Israeli aggression has led to over 10,000 deaths in Gaza with blockades on food, fuel, electricity and water. This is nothing but a humanitarian catastrophe as described by the UN.

It saddens me to say that we are witnessing one of the greatest human tragedies of our generation.

Adopting a position different to an immediate ceasefire is a position which gives the green light to more bloodshed, more violence and more brutality. We must choose life over more death, and humanity above party political loyalty.

Best Regards,
