DAY 1 DETAILED AGENDA
Carol Ann Tomlinson's career as an educator includes 21 years as a public school teacher, including 12 years as a program administrator of special services for struggling and advanced learners. She was Virginia's Teacher of the Year in 1974. More recently, she has been a faculty member at the University of Virginia's Curry School of Education, where she is currently Professor and Chair of Educational Leadership, Foundations and Policy. Also at U.Va., she is Co-Director of the University's Institutes on Academic Diversity. Carol was named Outstanding Professor at Curry School of Education in 2004 and received an All University Teaching Award in 2008. Special interests throughout her career have included curriculum and instruction for struggling learners and advanced learners, effective instruction in heterogeneous settings, and encouraging creative and critical thinking in the classroom.

An updated form of a Smartboard, these TVs have a variety of uses to both deliver information to students and draw them in - but we must look beyond their "TV" label to find these uses. In this session we will discuss some resources to utilize on ClearTouch TVs, how to encourage student use, and the possibility of digital screens being the "homebase" of your classroom space.

Attendees will practice creating a video with narration, background music, images and AI-generated art. This is a great way to take student work off the Google Doc and move it to engaging content. Murray State UniversityUtilizing specific examples from Shakespeare's dramatic language, this session focuses on training teachers in reading strategies intended to improve their students' comprehension and close-reading skills. These reading strategies will be intentionally tied to the most recent emphases in the KY state academic standards. The majority of the language examples will be drawn from Macbeth, a Shakespeare play commonly taught at the Junior or Senior High School levels.

In this session, we will look at a variety of uses for this program in the classroom. Some will be teacher uses - bulletin board/poster design, Google Classroom creation, and presentation designs. Others will be student focused, like multimedia presentations, video creation, and large-scale project design.
