My Professional Background: I attended Minnesota State University for my bachelor’s degree and University of Arizona for my master’s degree. I also have my endorsement for gifted learners and my TESOL certification with English Language Learners. My experience as an English teacher spans from middle school through adults, including a year teaching Korean English teachers as an employee of the South Korean government. Prior to teaching, I was a reporter, editor, and writing coach in the newspaper industry.
My Teaching Philosophy: My two primary rules for myself and my students are simply to be kind and embrace mistakes. As painful as mistakes can be, I firmly believe they offer the best opportunities to learn in life. It is my hope that families will support and encourage this vision at home.
Myself: I enjoy reading and writing, of course, but outside of those interests, I love spending time with my family and friends, ideally soaking in as much time as I can outdoors. Whether I'm on the beach or in the mountains, exploration and travel is in my blood -- by foot, train, plane, automobile or motorcycle.
