*Please note that in accordance with RIDOH recommendations, schools are no longer conducting contact tracing. Anyone who tests positive for Covid is asked to inform contacts as soon as possible.*

WHEN DO I NEED TO QUARANTINE?

  • Quarantine is for people who are not sick, but have been exposed.

    • If you got a COVID-19 booster dose or completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine within the last 6 months, OR completed the primary series of Johnson & Johnson vaccine within the last 2 months, you do not need to quarantine but should wear a mask around others for 10 days and test on day 5, if possible. If you develop symptoms, stay home and get a test.

    • If you have completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine over 5 months ago and are not boosted, OR completed the primary series of Johnson & Johnson vaccine over 2 months ago and are not boosted or are not fully vaccinated, you must quarantine for at least 5 days. You should get a test on day 5 and continue to wear a mask for 5 additional days. If you develop symptoms, stay home and get a test.

Keeping the Learning Going

Starting Monday, February 7th, the login link to classrooms will only be open for those quarantining or awaiting test results. Please email covidresponseteam@mtstcharles.org in the event your child will be absent for any Covid related reason. Recent guidance allows for a PCR OR RAPID test to be used to rule out Covid when symptoms are present. If a student has any Covid symptoms and are feeling up to attending school, we ask that they test prior to returning.

The pandemic is still with us. Breakthrough cases can happen. The RI Dept of Health has issued recent guidance in light of the higher transmissibility (especially in unvaccinated individuals) of the Delta variant. We ask that you please take a moment to carefully read the information below. Page 4-5 of this link may be helpful.

If your student has one of the following symptoms, the guidance calls for them to be excluded from school and obtain either a PCR Test or a note from a medical provider stating there is a more likely diagnosis: fever or chills; new cough; shortness of breath/difficulty breathing; fatigue; muscle/body aches; headache; sore throat; new loss of taste or smell; new congestion; runny nose; nausea; vomiting or diarrhea. If your child is feeling unwell and comes to the health office at school, please know you will likely be contacted for a dismissal.

By returning your student to school after they experience these symptoms you as a parent are taking responsibility for doing all you can to make sure your student is not Covid positive. Sending your student to school will indicate that you have had your child assessed as recommended, either by obtaining a PCR test or advice from a medical provider; that they have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication; and that symptoms have improved. Your adherence to these recommendations will keep the Mount community safely learning in person. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.

*Please note that people with chronic health conditions with symptoms that fall into the list above, may still contract Covid-19; this does not preclude the need for testing.

COVID-19 Testing is available at test sites in many communities. There is no cost to participate in COVID-19 testing at a State-run test site Insurance is not required. For RI sites CLICK HERE. For MA sites CLICK HERE

July 28, 2021

Our Covid Response Team met today to collaborate and to review recommendations from RIDOH and the CDC. We are strongly encouraging vaccination for all members of our school community who are eligible and able. It will take about five weeks from the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine, the only vaccine approved for children 12 or older, to be fully vaccinated. That means that our students need to get their first dose this week to be fully vaccinated in time for the start of the school year. RI families can find appointments or walk-up vaccination sites at C19VaccineRI.org or by calling 844-930-1779 for assistance Monday to Friday from 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. and Saturday to Sunday from 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Vaccinations are free.

The choice to be vaccinated is highly individual and all choices are respected. The information below is being shared to allow families time to make decisions and to understand the implications decisions may have. It is important to note that this information might change at any time based on state requirements but the the chart below contains information as it relates to masks and close contact status discussed today. School wide-policies and additional information will be shared after the August 11th meeting of the Covid Task Force. Anyone interested in joining the 21-22 Covid Task Force (this includes previous members) are asked to fill out this form. All meetings will be virtual.

We recognize that we have students who are not eligible for the vaccine and are taking this into careful consideration. Additional information will be shared after our meeting on August 11th.
