Attendance in Google Classroom
One of the easiest ways to take attendance in Google Classroom is to post a 'Question'.
When you post a question, you can easily see who responded and who didn't. You can use this information to mark your attendance.

Open your Google Classroom HOMEROOM
Go to CLASSWORK
Click CREATE
Choose QUESTION
Type in your title, such as "10/26 Attendance for Remote Learners"
Choose to have your question be either 'short answer' or 'multiple choice'
Type in your question and answer choice(s)
On the right side, change the points to ungraded
Choose a due date and time
Select a topic, such as 'Attendance'
Uncheck 'Students can see class summary' (unless you are doing a poll and you want students to see everyone else's responses)
At the top right, instead of ASK, choose SCHEDULE
Schedule the day and time for your question to be posted, such as 10/26 and 7 am
Click SCHEDULE to submit
The attendance for that day has now been created
To set it up for the next day, click the CREATE button and choose REUSE POST
Select the ATTENDANCE QUESTION you just created
Change the date in the title and in the DUE DATE section
Change the question (if you want)
At the top right, choose SCHEDULE
Schedule the new day and time for this question to be posted
Click SCHEDULE to submit
The attendance for that day has now been created
Continue steps #16-22 for every day that you are taking attendance for remote learners
