Attendance in Google Classroom


One of the easiest ways to take attendance in Google Classroom is to post a 'Question'.

When you post a question, you can easily see who responded and who didn't. You can use this information to mark your attendance.

👇 STEP BY STEP DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO SET UP AN ATTENDANCE QUESTION

  1. Open your Google Classroom HOMEROOM

  2. Go to CLASSWORK

  3. Click CREATE

  4. Choose QUESTION

  5. Type in your title, such as "10/26 Attendance for Remote Learners"

  6. Choose to have your question be either 'short answer' or 'multiple choice'

  7. Type in your question and answer choice(s)

  8. On the right side, change the points to ungraded

  9. Choose a due date and time

  10. Select a topic, such as 'Attendance'

  11. Uncheck 'Students can see class summary' (unless you are doing a poll and you want students to see everyone else's responses)

  12. At the top right, instead of ASK, choose SCHEDULE

  13. Schedule the day and time for your question to be posted, such as 10/26 and 7 am

  14. Click SCHEDULE to submit

  15. The attendance for that day has now been created

  16. To set it up for the next day, click the CREATE button and choose REUSE POST

  17. Select the ATTENDANCE QUESTION you just created

  18. Change the date in the title and in the DUE DATE section

  19. Change the question (if you want)

  20. At the top right, choose SCHEDULE

  21. Schedule the new day and time for this question to be posted

  22. Click SCHEDULE to submit

  23. The attendance for that day has now been created

  24. Continue steps #16-22 for every day that you are taking attendance for remote learners
