Supplies

Students will be using a binder as their interactive notebook. They will need:

• 1 1/2 inch binder

• tab dividers (5)

• lined paper

• Safety google (labeled with name).  There is a class available if you don't want you own personal use of goggles.

• Earbuds (labeled with their name in a plastic baggie)

Additionally, they may also want a gallon size bag to store some tape, glue stick, colored pencils, highlighters, and post-it notes. 

Expectations

Do Now and Homework

Students are expected to complete the DO NOW as they enter the classroom.  This may include collecting the day’s necessary handouts, recording their homework and updating their table of contents in their Science Binder.

Homework is expected to be completed on time and handed in when due.  Homework is 10% and Graded Assignments/Assessments make up 90% of a student grade. 

Grading

Home Work (10%):  

• One day late, 1/2 credit

• Two days late, 0 credit. 

Graded Work/Assessments (90%):

• Each day late, 10% penalty  (ex. assignment is 10 points, 1 day late highest possible grade received is 9 pts).

Participation/Group work

Students will be involved in group activities and discussions frequently with the expectation they are willing to participate and work well in groups and individually.

Science Binders

Students are expected to use their binders to “interact” with their learning.  It will be a consolidation of the content we have been learning in class.  Students will maintain a table of contents and number the documents so they can keep their lessons organized.  Some of the pages will be information, "input", for example, worksheets, definitions, and notes. Others will be their work, "output", such as reflections, questions, and connections.
