The Office of Health Professions Advising will consider requests for funding for pre-health-relevant pre-professional activities.
To be considered for funding, an activity must meet the following criteria:
If off campus, an activity must be within a 3 hour drive of Mount Holyoke or of the applicant's home unless a persuasive argument can be made for something farther away.
Activities must take place during the academic year (including breaks) unless a persuasive argument can be made for a summer event. Events in the summer months will be funded only rarely, and the student requesting funds for a summer event must be returning to Mount Holyoke for the following fall semester.
The event must have direct relevance to the student’s exploration of, or pursuit of, a career in the health professions.
In line with the strategic goals of the Office of Health Professions Advising, events serving students underrepresented in medicine will be given special consideration for funding.
Funding is available to current students only.
Funding requests may be made by individuals or groups.
Activities may take place on or off campus, and funds can be used both for attending and for hosting an event.
No one student may receive more than $200 in one academic year or $300 throughout their time at MHC.
Students are not required to receive need-based financial aid to be eligible for funding, but financial need will be one factor considered when decisions are made.
Funding can be provided through reimbursement only, so students must be able to secure resources for upfront payment. Reimbursement requests will be processed within 5 business days of the Office of Health Professions Advising receiving receipts and the proper form.

Some people have found it helpful to explore local scholarships, similar to what one may explore in high school. You can even contact your high school's guidance office for a current list (Masons, Lions Club, etc.). Not all scholarships are for high school seniors; sometimes they are listed for "students" or those pursuing additional education. Depending on your funding goals, they may be helpful.
