I am an assistant professor in the Department of Philosophy at Mount Holyoke College.
My research spans theoretical and applied ethics, philosophy of action, and philosophy of law. I have written about moral responsibility, virtue and vice, and most recently, the ethics of artificial intelligence.
I serve on the steering committee for Data Insights for Social & Humanitarian Action (DISHA), a UN-led multi-partner initiative that aims to accelerate ethical and responsible access to data and artificial intelligence solutions for social impact.
I'm on the steering committee for Philosophy in an Inclusive Key - Boston (PIKSI-Boston), which hosts a summer institute for undergraduates in philosophy.
Previously, I was an assistant professor of philosophy at Clark University and a postdoctoral research fellow in philosophy at Northeastern University.
I did my PhD at MIT and BPhil at the University of Pittsburgh.
You can reach me at ardenali@mtholyoke.edu. MHC students can book appointments here.
My office is 215 Skinner Hall.
