Hello, my name is Sarah Tallman. This is my eighth year teaching in the Marysville school district. Previously, I taught kindergarten and first grade at Quil Ceda Tulalip elementary. I graduated with a B.A. in Special Education from WWU in 2017, and earned my M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction in 2020.
Before I was a teacher, I was a lifeguard/lifeguard instructor, and was the Aquatics Director for the Marysville YMCA. In 2017, I was selected to be an international humanitarian lifeguard. As you can tell, I have spent a lot of time near the water! I loved swimming, boating, and surfing (when I was younger!). I am a classically trained pianist and still enjoy playing music for my cat and daughter. I am a former member of Snohomish County Search and Rescue, and still enjoy hiking! More recently, I am a competitive powerlifter, so I still spend plenty of time at the Y training for competitions. Maybe I will see you there sometime!
Some of the other things I love are dinosaurs, singing, reading, coffee, zip-lining, and my favorite color is purple!
I have a cat named Zelda, and she can be so silly! I am married, and my husband's name is Tyler. He can also be so silly! Tyler is a youth and family therapist for the Stillaguamish Tribe. I have one older sister. Her name is Emily. Emily and her husband are both librarians, and she loves to meet my class once a year and do special projects with them. I have a daughter named Lydia. She turned one in June.
My favorite part of teaching is getting to know all my students. I also love how amazing it is to see my students excited about meeting their goals for school. I am especially passionate about reading instruction.
I am so excited to be your teacher this year - if you want to contact me for any reason, you can click on my email button on the homepage of this website, or you can email me at sarah_tallman@msvl.k12.wa.us
