OSR Extends Project STEP: Mainstreaming SDGs into the Community

Student Regent Casipong, spearheaded the mainstreaming and capacity-building initiative on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for youth leaders in Tawi-Tawi.
The activity was organized in partnership with the Office of the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President of the Province of Tawi-Tawi, under the banner program “BOGSAY: Sailing Towards a Sustainable Tawi-Tawi”, a youth-led capacity-building initiative promoting SDG awareness and localization.
Participated in by student councils, SK officials, and youth organizations from across Tawi-Tawi and its island municipalities, the event aimed to strengthen youth participation in governance through sustainability-oriented planning and local action.
One of the key highlights of Project STEP was its commitment to extending SDG education and advocacy to the grassroots level. The program became the foundation for the drafting of a localized SDG mapping framework and the crafting of position papers on issues such as sustainability, food security, basic education funding, health, peace, and environmental protection.
Through collaborative efforts among student leaders, youth organizations, and local youth representatives in governance, the initiative reaffirmed the shared vision of building a sustainable and inclusive community in Tawi-Tawi.
