The Project RISE team conducted a highly productive and inspiring series of field visits to its partner schools, joined by esteemed Flemish partners, Wim Van Petegem of KU Leuven and Hilde Vanbrabant of UCLL. Notably, this marks the second time that Prof. Van Petegem has conducted classroom observations under the project—having previously participated in 2024—while it is the first time for Ms. Vanbrabant, making the experience both a continuation of sustained collaboration and a new opportunity for fresh perspectives.
During the initial phase of the visits, the team conducted classroom observations focusing on Grade 1 teachers in three partner institutions: Villa Verde Elementary School, Del Carmen Integrated School, and Abuno Elementary School. The primary objective of these visits was to closely examine the actual classroom implementation of lesson plans and instructional materials (IMs) that were collaboratively developed by the Project RISE team in partnership with Grade 1 educators.
Building on these engagements, the team successfully completed another round of classroom observations at Angelico J. Medina Memorial School and North Central School, continuing in the company of the Flemish partners. This phase further enriched the dataset and provided a more comprehensive view of how Project RISE initiatives are being implemented across different school contexts.
Across all site visits, the team carefully documented instructional practices, classroom dynamics, and levels of student engagement. Particular attention was given to how teachers utilized the developed instructional materials, adapted teaching strategies to meet diverse learner needs, and facilitated inclusive and interactive classroom environments. These observations generated valuable insights into the effectiveness, usability, and contextual relevance of the materials, while also identifying areas for refinement and additional support. Moreover, the visits served as a meaningful platform for professional exchange, allowing the Flemish collaborators to gain deeper insights into the project’s progress and on-the-ground impact. The interactions fostered reflective dialogue among educators and partners, reinforcing shared commitments to quality education and continuous improvement.
The Project RISE team expresses its deep appreciation for the dedication and openness of partner teachers, whose active participation remains central to the project’s success. Likewise, the team acknowledges the invaluable support and engagement of its international partners, whose expertise and collaboration continue to strengthen the initiative.
