4th Data Science Student Conference (DISC) 2024

Workshop Aims:


The Department of Computational Mathematics, Science and Engineering (CMSE) at Michigan State University (MSU) is pleased to announce the 4th CMSE Data Science Student Conference (DISC) to be held on November 15, 2024.


This two-day conference aims to bring together undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdocs working or interested in data and computational science broadly at MSU and students from other US universities. Computational research across many disciplines will be covered including machine learning, bioinformatics, medical imaging, image processing/analysis, astrophysics, plant sciences, inverse problems, computational physics, scientific computing, topological data analysis, geosciences, neuroscience, etc.


We want to invite students and postdocs to sign up for this opportunity to attend or present their research at our conference. Please sign up at the following link as soon as possible. The deadline for registration is November 1st. There is no fee to sign up.

Workshop Program:


We have a variety of events planned including a plenary talk, poster sessions, lightning talks, early career research presentations (for PhD students near graduation and postdocs within 2 years), and a panel discussion on careers in data science. Prizes will be awarded for the best research presentations. We will serve lunch, refreshments, and coffee during the conference. There will be an optional relaxation/wellness activity (such as exercise/yoga, meditation, and music). All conference events will be in person.
