Title I Description

Title I services are provided for kindergarten through sixth grade students in the area of Reading/Language Arts. For Reading/Language Arts, students are selected based on needs assessments such as iReady, ISTEP+, and STAR. Regular progress monitoring provides continual data on student progress. Title I focuses on additional letter/word work, phonological awareness, phonics, reading comprehension, reading fluency, and further Language Arts instruction that is unique to the child and uses a variety of developmentally appropriate activities and resources.

Tier II students receive 30 minutes of Title I instruction daily. Tier III students receive 60 minutes of Title I instruction daily, 30 minutes of which is using iReady or Reading Horizons. The additional instruction for Tier II and Tier III students is provided using different components of researched-based resources such as Reading Horizons, iReady, Pearson SuccessNet, Debbie Diller workstations, Start-Up, and Build-Up. The Title I program is also integrated with technology programs such as iReady, Reading Horizons, Raz-Kids, and Study Island. All students participate in Book-It or Accelerated Reader.

Students are continually evaluated for needs and/or mastery of skills. Regular collaborative planning meetings are held with the Title I staff, classroom teachers, and other support staff to ensure student success in the Title I program. The Title I staff makes parent contacts through meetings, telephone conversations, and written communications.
