All About Me

My name is Jackie Hunter and I am the Library Media Specialist at VPA. I am excited to be a part of the Marion Visual & Performing Arts Magnet School team!

I graduated from the University of Central Arkansas in 1982 with a Bachelor's degree. I finished with a major in Home Economics and a minor in Physical Education.

I graduated from Arkansas Tech University in 1992 with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.

I graduated from Arkansas Tech University in 1997 with a Master's degree in Instructional Technology.

Currently I am in my 27th year in education. I taught first grade for four years in Russellville, Arkansas. I moved to Marion where I taught third grade for 17 years. I became the library media specialist here at what was formerly known as Avondale Elementary School, now Marion Visual & Performing Arts Magnet School, in 2014.

I am the mother to one daughter and the "Granny" to one grandson who recently turned 11.

I felt that VPA would be a good fit for me. I have always loved music and incorporated it into my lessons when I taught third grade and after I became a library media specialist. I encourage reading, another love of mine, and use music to help foster that love of reading in my students. I am excited for the students and honored to be a part of something that caters to their interest.
