Ashley Tharbs

I am excited to begin my ninth year of teaching English! I hold a master’s degree in English and am currently pursuing my Ph.D. at Saint Louis University. I teach Advanced English I & II and love sharing my passion for reading, writing, and literature with my students.

One of my favorite things about teaching English is that there isn’t always one “right” answer. Two people can read the exact same story and come away with completely different ideas, perspectives, and interpretations. I love the conversations that come from that, and I truly believe my students teach me just as much as I teach them every day.

Outside of school, I live in Belleville with my son. We enjoy traveling, spending time outdoors, and making memories together. I also love reading and am always happy to have a good book to recommend—or add to my ever-growing reading list! I am so excited to work with my students and make this a great year.
