Alana Fanous

Welcome to Mrs. Fanous's Classroom Information

Our special education classroom has a homeroom of K-2 students. In addition, we pull in some students to serve their needs in a small group setting. We are lucky enough to have supportive individual care aides, as well, that help our room function daily. Our homeroom follows the respective grade level schedules. If you have a question about our schedule, please email me for specific information.

Our curriculum is dependent on the need of our students. We continue to use common core standards, and IEP goals and objectives, to drive what we do in the classroom.

We follow the school-wide behavior expectations through the PBIS matrix. If a student requires a specific behavior plan, it should be addressed within an IEP meeting.

As always, email me if you have any questions.

I am a special education teacher at Mascoutah Elementary School. I am a graduate of MHS, class of 1995. In 2003 I graduated from SIU-E and was hired to teach special education for Mascoutah Elementary. I opened a new, 2nd-4th grade self-contained classroom. I got my Master's Degree in Educational Administration from Lindenwood University in 2006. Over the years, I have changed grade levels, but I have continued teaching special education in a self-contained setting. I am married and have 2 children that also attend MES.
