Hello! I'm Shanda Henning, the School Social Worker at Knapp Elementary and Downsville Elementary. Hank, my trusty sidekick, is a facility dog who joins me on Mondays at Knapp and Tuesdays at Downsville.

My role is to bridge the gap between home, school, and the community. I work with students, caregivers, teachers, administrators, and community agencies to help students overcome non-academic barriers to their success. At Knapp and Downsville, I:

- Support students' mental health and social/emotional needs through one-on-one or group sessions

- Connect families with community resources like mental health services, housing, and food assistance

- Monitor attendance

- Identify and support homeless students and families

- Provide crisis intervention
