Fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science students successfully presented and defended their thesis projects last April 7 at the Old OP Conference Room, marking one of the final academic milestones before graduation.

Under the supervision of Thesis Professor Prof. ir Panchito Labay, the students tackled various environmental topics reflecting current issues and challenges in the field. The defense served as both a culmination of their undergraduate research and an opportunity to receive critical feedback from professionals across multiple disciplines.

A total of nine panelists were present during the event, offering insights, technical critique, and commendation for the studentsโ€™ work includingย  Dr. Evangeline Mandia; CES Dean, Mr. Christian Russel Rabi; CES Associate Dean, Mr. Ronnel Nolos; CES Program Head, Mr. Jericho Macunat; CES Alumni and Best Thesis 2024 Awardee, Dr. Menandro Merlin and Mr. Jan Fern Historillo; faculties from the College of Industrial Technology (CIT),ย  Maricel Solas and Riena Rodriguez; Research teachers from Marinduque National High School.

The presence of a multidisciplinary panel allowed for diverse perspectives, with experts from environmental science, education, and industrial technology examining the technical rigor and societal relevance of each study.

The successful defense presentations signify the studentsโ€™ transition from academic training to professional readiness, with many expected to pursue roles in environmental agencies, research institutions, and community development work. As the academic year nears its conclusion, the CES faculty expressed pride in the achievements of the graduating class and optimism about their future contributions to the field of environmental science.
