Strengthening our youths minds and bodies while keeping them nourished at the heart of a resilient agricultural community.

Harvest of the Month

The Harvest of the Month for May is Wild Maine Blueberries! Maine is home to approximately 44,000 acres of wild blueberries across the state. The Wabanaki were the first to grow blueberries on a large scale, and any given blueberry farm can hold approximately 1500 different species of blueberry plants.

Blueberries are one of the only foods who are naturally blue in color, and are filled with antioxidants, which is great for your overall health! Blueberries can be included in pancakes, muffins, and cakes, and our students will be tasting them in our breakfasts and lunches this month!

What we've done

By having more options for waste in the cafeteria, we have already decreased how much trash we are throwing away, while feeding local pigs!

Our school lunch program has also increased the amount of local products we are feeding the kids, like using community partners like The Good Crust, to make pizzas.

Winter Harvest Community Supper

The Bulldog MFSTS put on a community supper for the public. With the help of community farmers and businesses, they provided a free, delicious meal for community members entirely with local foods. Students also got involved by helping serve the foods!
