New Hartford Volunteer Ambulance

New Hartford Volunteer Ambulance (NHVA) provides pre-hospital emergency medical care to New Hartford, Barkhamsted, and West Hartland. Through Mutual Aid agreements we also provide emergency medical  services to our neighboring communities. NHVA Emergency Medical Services are provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to all those in need. High school students who are at least fourteen years of age are eligible to join the NHVA Explorer Post. 

Explorers can assist in emergency calls if they are 15 years of age or older. Explorers are expected to attend training sessions, participate in Explorer meetings and NHVA activities, and serve on at least one 12-hour duty shift per month. Most Explorers have earned or are in the process of earning their EMR or EMT certificates but all are welcome regardless of experience. We provide uniforms and training.
