Parents as Teachers is an evidence-based home visiting program for parents of young children ages prenatal to 5. We provide parent education and support focused on parent-child interaction, developmental centered parenting- helping parents understand and support their child’s growth and development- and family well-being- working with parents to set and achieve goals. We provide resource referrals and linkages from basic needs to employment, housing, financial assistance, etc. We conduct screenings and assessments including developmental to catch delays early and get Birth to Three as necessary, as well as parental depression/anxiety and intimate partner violence screens. We provide monthly group connection activities for families always with food and transportation. We work with fathers through home visiting and connect them with additional group support through a collaborating agency.
We also co-founded the Torrington Downtown Community Garden and have opportunities at the garden and in collaboration with the summer program of Our Culture is Beautiful
