MPE Library

Is your library a window, a mirror or a door?

Welcome to Middletown Prairie Elementary Library!  My name is Ms. Maxey, and I'm the librarian!  After being a classroom teacher for 30 years, I now share my love of reading and literature with the students of Mahomet-Seymour!

Welcome to Middletown Prairie Elementary Library!

Every class Kindergarten through 2nd grade visits the library each week for 30 minutes.  Preschoolers come to the library for a shorter time, but we pack a lot of fun into each visit!  Library consists of a library lesson, a read aloud book, and browsing time for the a new book!

Our vision is to foster a love of learning, build confidence through personal success, and engage students to be responsible global citizens.

Our mission is the belief that students will learn to achieve their own personal potential through developing individual talents, critical thinking skills, and gain knowledge by being actively involved in the learning process.  With a commitment to continuous improvement, full access to materials and acceptance of all, our goal is that students become life-long learnings, skillful researchers and ethical users of information.

Our Goals: 1. To promote literacy and the enjoyment of reading.

2.  To promote curiosity, creativity and personal growth.

3.  To develop and maintain a balanced, extensive and accessible collection of materials that  support and enrich the curriculum.

     4.  To help students acquire information literacy skills and know how to use them ethically.
